NSW Likely To Have Interest-Free Loans For Rooftop Solar And Storage In The Near Future
/0 Comments/in Blog/by adminGreat news for NSW residents, according to Benjamin Franklin, NSW parliamentary secretary for Energy, a new interest-free loans program to increase household investment in solar and storage is underway. During the Australian Energy Storage conference last month, the secretary for energy hinted at government plans of introducing the ‘Empowering Homes’ initiative.
The program hopes in the next 10 years to support the installation of 300,000 solar-battery systems in NSW, providing interest free loans to eligible residents for the installation of battery and solar-battery systems. These interest-free loans are up to $9000 for a battery system and $14,000 for solar-battery system. However, the program requirements are subject to annual household income, with owner-occupiers having an annual income of $180,000 as well as normal loan assessment requirements.
“This program will provide interest-free loans for owner-occupiers who want to install a battery or solar battery system in their home” Franklin stated.
“A new solar battery system could save a home hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a year in their electricity bill and importantly more storage will enable greater penetration of renewables in the grid, which reduces prices for everyone. The program aims to unlock up to $3.2 billion in clean energy investment over the life of the program supporting up to 3000MWh of storage into the NSW energy system when complete.” The Secretary for Energy announced.
However, he was unable to provide any more details on the program but hopes to be able to deliver more information soon. It has been suggested that the first battery or solar-battery systems will be available for installation towards the end of the year, in summer 2019/2020.
At Sure Solar we will keep you updated on the latest news and updates on the possible interest-free loans for solar panels and batteries in NSW. Top 5 Things to Consider Before Buying Your Solar Power System
/0 Comments/in Blog/by adminAre you considering solar power for your home? Perhaps you have a commercial building that you’re looking to install solar power onto. A lot has changed in the solar panel industry, and the costs of installing solar are not as prohibitively expensive as they might have been in the past. If you are considering solar, there are likely going to be some questions that you have. How many panels do you need? What side of your house do they need to sit on? Will there be enough solar panels to charge batteries for overcast days?
We wanted to answer some common questions and discuss some things to consider before buying your solar power system. If you’re ready to take the plunge and buy solar for your home, then contact us at Sure Solar, otherwise, read on for more information.
Is your roof up to task?
While installing solar is a great choice, you need to make sure that your roof is up to the task. While all houses have the potential to support solar, some are better suited to solar than others. If your roof is north or northwest facing and is not blocked or covered by trees or shade, then it’s going to be better for solar. That said, every roof receives light in some form or another. So you can still place solar panels on your roof and enjoy the benefits, it’s just important to be realistic about how much power you are going to be able to generate.
Know how much energy you actually need for your home
When you have a residential solar system, you are generating electricity for your home simply by having your panels on your roof. It’s important to have a battery system in place in addition to your solar panels so that you can retain your energy for use at night. You want to be able to estimate the size of your usage and then ensure you have batteries in place to manage the amount of power you need for your home. Batteries are especially helpful when you have a number of overcast days in a row. You can use this solar calculator, which is helpful for working out your costs and what you could potentially save.
Ensure you work with a solar expert
Your solar panels are going to last for over ten years – at a minimum – which means you need to choose a solar panel installer who is going to be around for the life of your solar power system. At Sure Solar, we are a committed team of solar power experts who have been in the business for a long time. We have over ten years of industry experience and are committed to being here into 2030 to make the best solar options available to the homeowners of Queensland and Australia.
Your batteries, inverters, and cabling all need to be high quality – and at Sure Solar, we install only the best quality hardware to ensure your solar panels will continue to perform exactly as they should.
Understand the plans available (and your options)
(Find out more about our plans here)

And the best thing about solar these days is that there are options which are all geared towards making solar more accessible. From interest-free loans through to government incentives we can help you find out more about your options and make the process straightforward.
Know what your options are
Installing solar panels is not necessarily difficult, but getting the best from your system does require some deep understanding, which is why it’s important to work with a company who knows solar inside and out. We can help you to understand what kinds of government incentives and benefits are available to you, plus we can help you to understand what size system you need in the first place.
